Skin-care trends come and go, but one resounding theme has remained in my skin-care routine since I went all-in on improving my dull, 32-years-and-counting-skin a few years ago: I am obsessed with products that make me glow.
I would take a wrinkle here and there, along with the occasional blemish, if it meant my face would look hydrated and soft and, well, glowy. If you open up my very disorganized bathroom cabinet, you will find no shortage of skin-care products that promise to accomplish just that. There are exfoliating scrubs that will make me glow, serums that will make me glow, rose-infused oils that will make me glow, and now a sheet mask and eye mask that are supposed to do the same thing.
Blush Bio-Cellulose CBD Facial Sheet Mask.
After the recommended 10 to 15 minutes were up (I probably left mine on for more like 20), I pulled the mask off and rubbed the remaining serum into my skin, which felt ultrasoft. When I looked in the mirror, my face looked rejuvenated, hydrated, and glowy, which is very hard to accomplish in the dead of a Minnesota winter. Unlike other sheet masks I have tried, this one didn’t cause my face to feel sticky afterward — just moist.
When I came across Blush’s Bio-Cellulose CBD Facial Sheet Mask — which claims to hydrate and plump skin within minutes, as well as improve the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots — I knew I had to try it. I’m a regular user of CBD-infused products, so I was intrigued to learn that it’s one of the main ingredients in the mask.
Excited to see the results for myself, I washed and dried my face, then left the mask on my face for 15 minutes. The first thing I noticed when I put it on was that the mask was really wet — like, dripping in serum — without being sticky, which is a major positive. What I love about sheet masks like these is you leave the serum on your skin instead of washing it off, which in my experience results in more-noticeable, longer-lasting effects.
On top of the 25 milligrams of CBD isolate, the sheet mask comes packed with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, coconut water, and rosehip oil, which are all supposed to work together to deliver a healthy, hydrated glow. (In other words: exactly what I need.) As a bonus for my skin, which also happens to have its fair share of acne and scarring, the mask contains anti-inflammatory witch hazel and chamomile, both of which can help reduce redness on the skin.
Another plus: I felt totally relaxed, maybe due to the mask’s ingredients, or perhaps because I had just indulged in an all-too-rare act of self-care. Either way, my skin’s glow is real, and I would 100 percent use this mask again when my face needs a pick-me-up. (Good thing I grabbed the box that came with three of them!)
There are countless great ingredients to use in a CBD face mask, and we love the ingredients in the CBDfx CBD face masks 5-pack. But here are some other popular ingredients that are often found in a CBD face mask and what they do:
Researchers have found that CBD topicals enhance skin hydration and elasticity, which may be due to fatty acids found naturally in hemp extracts. These fatty-acids hydrate and plump irritated skin by forming a protective layer.
[Although the Food and Drug Administration or FDA does regulate CBD products, always seek a doctor’s advice before trying new products, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies. Always let them know if you use prescription medications and inform them of any serious medical conditions.]
Use the mask. Remove your CBD sheet mask and unfold it carefully. Make sure the sheet mask is smooth and has no creases or bumps. Line up the pre-cut holes for your eyes, nose, and mouth and drape the mask’s cloth side over your face. Remove the plastic. Gently pat and press the mask with your hands, removing air bubbles until it adheres to each part of your face thoroughly.
CBD products offer the relaxing and pain relief benefits of cannabis without its psychoactive side effects or that high you get from THC. For many looking to improve their health or beauty regimen simply, that’s ideal. In this post, we’ll cover how to incorporate CBD face masks into your skincare routine and how they affect the skin.
How to Use a Sheet Mask.
Acne. Acne causes redness and swelling, and according to the research, CBD helps normalize skin cell growth and fight acne-related inflammation.
Inflammation. CBD, as a potent anti-inflammatory, may treat skin issues such as psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema, and has been shown to treat inflammation and pain in rats.
Cream, gel, and mousse CBD masks also exist. These are typically sold in plastic containers, squeeze bottles, and glass jars.
Soothe skin. The anti-inflammatory qualities of CBD face creams can soothe itching, dryness, and red skin.
Cannabinoids from plants, including cannabidiol or CBD, can work in conjunction with the skin’s ECS. They are particularly useful when treating skin-based medical conditions.
Scarring. Researchers have revealed that CBD topicals can “significantly improve” patients’ scar tissue.
Using a CBD face mask could significantly enhance your skincare routine:
Lower CBD levels don’t necessarily correlate to less effective CBD masks. It is the right type of CBD formulation in conjunction with other active ingredients such as collagen, vitamin C, retinol, hyaluronic acid, Manuka honey, herbs, essential oils, and aloe vera juice.
There are many kinds of hydrating face masks, and more than one type of CBD face mask, believe it or not. But the style we like is the CBD sheet mask. Here are some details.
To use a CBD sheet mask, follow these steps:
Why Use CBD Face Masks?
Much of this is related to the mammalian endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is mostly endocannabinoids, receptors for them, and enzymes. The ECS regulates appetite, memory, mood, pain sensation, sleep, reproduction, and many other human functions.
Relax and enjoy. Use your CBD sheet masks for at least 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, remove and discard the mask. Gently rub and pat your face to help leftover ingredients absorb into the skin.
As far as dosage goes, whether it’s a cream mask or a sheet mask, the jury is out on how much is best. Some claim that CBD skin products should be infused with at least 100 milligrams of CBD per ounce, while others insist that although anything less than 5 to 10 milligrams won’t have an impact, more is not necessarily better.
Many CBD skincare products take an herbivore’s approach to scents, using non-synthetic, vegan, or plant-based fragrances. They also incorporate other essential oils from active botanicals such as rose, citrus, and lavender. CBD and aromatherapy can enhance each other’s’ health benefits.
Wash . Thoroughly wash your face using a gentle natural cleanser. Do not use a towel to dry your skin; allow your face to air dry completely.
We’ll also give you our recommendation for the best CBD face mask, and explain how and why it works and why we love it.
The ECS helps maintain balance or homeostasis in the human body—and the skin also has its endocannabinoid system, which does the same thing. The ECS goal in the skin is stasis, just like for the rest of the endocannabinoid system throughout the human body. Because the source of most skin issues is typically some sort of a skin imbalance, CBD topicals are a useful treatment avenue and can be a route to healthy skin.
What Ingredients to Look for in a CBD Face Mask.
CBD is a new ingredient on the block when it comes to face masks, but a powerful one when bringing the zen. And although cannabis is widely known for being soothing, it comes with the baggage of being intoxicating—enter CBD.
In a world that feels totally out of control a lot of the time, face masks are a small luxury within reach for most of us. They can help us relax from time to time, and even recreate a spa experience at home.
Anti-aging. As an antioxidant, CBD can treat inflammation, dryness, and free radical damage, not to mention aging damage such as wrinkles, fine lines, and dark spots.
Balance complexion. CBD may help prevent patchy spots or an oily T-zone by assisting the skin’s endocannabinoid system in maintaining hydration in the face’s skin and stopping excess oil for all skin types.
Sheet masks are in the form of a sheet for single use. They are made of bamboo or cotton, and they are ultra-clean and sanitary.
One of our favoite CBD face masks is the CBD sbeet mask bundle from CBDfx. It comes with a variety of different formulas that you can use for different skin types and depending on the results you’re looking for.
